Ateliers du Cinéma Européen
March 14 to 21, 2010
Paris, France (3 days) and Zurich, Switzerland (5 days)
BACKGROUND
ACE (Ateliers du Cinéma Européen) was founded in Paris (France) in 1993 as a selective training
programme and development centre for experienced independent European producers. Since its creation, more than 200 feature length fiction film producers from 23 European countries have joined the ranks of ACE.
ACE combines three main types of activities:
Training via workshops and one-day seminars on specific topics.
Advice regarding the development of fiction feature-film projects, offered throughout the
year.
Networking activities: product/industry placement organized at the international level for
industry members within the framework of major festivals and markets (Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, Toronto, Sarajevo).
THE ACE IPA PROGRAMME
In 2009, ACE opened its doors for the first time to non-EU independent producers by launching a new training session (ACE IPA), specially designed for them, with the support of the MEDIA International Programme. This initiative will take place again in 2010:
Number of participants: 8 non-EU independent producers.
Language spoken: English (but one-on-one project sessions may be conducted in French with a French version of the screenplay, if the producer wishes).
3 days in Paris, France: introduction to European film industry (financing, legal, tax schemes, international sales, distribution, etc.).
5 days in Zurich, Switzerland:
- One (1) day of one-on-one consultations for selected projects (screenplay, funding, distribution, production value).
-One (1) day Co-Production Forum with Switzerland - Three (3) days of networking meetings with the ACE Network of European
Producers originating from 23 different EU countries, as well as individual meetings with script doctors and financing experts on each producer's project.
March-December 2010: individual follow-up of each project (at distance).
2010 year-round: Free access to all ACE events.
At the end of this period, in 2011 and later on, participants will have the possibility to remain a member of the ACE Network (subject to annual subscription) offering them:
- commercial, financial & legal information, - an access to the ACE gatherings (at the main festivals) and seminars, - unique opportunities of meeting EU professionals. - extension of advice offered on the project during initial workshop, as needed.
